Flights & Visas
Fortunately for us Americans and Aussies there are no visa requirements to travel to Italy. Just make sure your passports are valid—i.e. they must be at least 6 months from expiration at the time of the wedding.
Regarding flights, the best airports to fly into to get to Conti di San Bonifacio include Rome, Pisa, and Florence.
For more unsolicited flight advice, see the ‘Flight Tracker’ below. FYI, we use Skyscanner and/or Google Flights to search for flights, and if possible buy directly from the airline.
Accommodation
When we say our wedding is in Tuscany, we mean it’s in the middle of a large patch of beautiful green (a natural wonder, but in the middle of nowhere).
The area offers a number of beautiful villas and hotels, however, in an effort to make sure we are able to organize transport for the big events, we have provided a list of options (click below).
That said, if you’re good with organizing transit through your stay—or plan to drive— don’t let us stop you from staying elsewhere. We want you to be comfortable!
Trains & Cars
Whether you’re coming in from Rome, Pisa or Florence, taking a train is a super reliable way to get to our venue (getting off at either Grossetto, the larger city, or Gavorrano, the smaller town). Purchase tickets directly from Trenitalia, and all should be pretty straight forward from there (they also have an app!).
Friendly warning, once you get to Gavorrano, taxis and Ubers aren’t really a thing. Ask your accommodation about transfers which are likely available to and from the train station. Private car services are also option, but are on the pricier side—a 40 min ride can cost up to €180.)
If renting a car during your stay in Italy, that’s great! But don’t forget to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP).
Weather & Sights
April usually offers cooler/comfortable temperatures in Tuscany with slight chances of rain (fingers crossed). For reference: 2024 (5-26°C, 43-80°F) and in 2025 (7-25°C, 44-77°F).
You can't go wrong with dressing for spring/fall, but we encourage bringing a jacket to account for the evenings and early mornings. Lastly, we'll be in the middle of nature, so definitely bring sneakers.
During down time, Siena, Castiglione della Pescaia (castle beach town) and Fallonica (beach town) are great places to visit—about 25-40 mins away from our venue.
